My stepmom got a SPOT for my hike so she feels better and is not as worried about me being out there in the wilderness. The SPOT is a little unit that combines a GPS with a satellite phone that is used to send pre-defined text messages.
I will carry the SPOT in "Track" modus and publish my location data here. Starting Saturday, July 24th, the SPOT will send my location every 10 minutes and you will be able to see my progress on that map.
Every day when I stop hiking I will send an "OK" signal before I turn the unit off. That way you will be able to see whether I'm ahead or behind myday by day plan.
I hope you enjoy following my hike and that it inspires you to donate money to my Eagle Scout Project for every mile I walk.
